Beach

Beach

Dogs shouldn’t
be allowed there

After a half day’s work, my wife and I along with our four children decided to go take a dip in the ocean to cool off. We decided to go to Alula Bay, better known as “dog beach,” on the southern end of Honokohau Harbor.

When we arrived there were about eight dogs already there. After about an hour or so, a man and a woman came walking across the rocks with what looked like a German Shepard. The German Shepard engaged in a fierce fight with another dog. It took six to eight people to break up this fight. With tempers flaring, the owners of this German Shepard were yelled off the beach.

Since when has this beach been deemed “dog beach?” Granted not all dogs who go there are aggressive. But what is it gonna take for someone to stop people from taking there dogs there? A child getting bitten? A dog killing another dog? An adult or elderly person getting bitten?

Who’s looking over this beach? State, county or the National Park Service?

It’s just a matter of time before something unfortunate happens. The trail leading to the beach, along with the beach itself, is littered with dog feces and the water has dog hair floating on the surface.

I personally felt sorry for the owners of the German Shepard.

I say if you wanna take your dog swimming — buy a pool.
